Christy Emilio Ioannidou was born in the City of Athens. She studied psychology, history and etymology.

She is a Naval History researcher (ex mariner at the Hellenic Merchant Marine), specializing in topics related to Naval Warfare in antiquity and ancient Greek Shipping. She developed remarkable literary activity, publishing books and writing more than 100 articles, monographs and studies in academic journals and magazines  issued by specialized agencies such as the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

She has participated in plenty of documentaries, conferences organized, inter alia, by the Hellenic Naval Staff and Command Colleges (ΣΔΕΠΝ), Hellenic Navy's Petty Officers' Academy (ΣΜΥΝ), School of Signals of the Greek Army (ΣΔ) as well as by universities abroad (e.g. Pultusk Academy of Humanities, Poland).

 

 

 

She has got plenty of awards and honored plaquets for her researchers in Naval History, among them the Award of First Section of Sciences, Academy of Athens, 2021.

She is creator and manager of the blog Περί Αλός www.perialos.blogspot.gr., founding member and member of the Board of Directors of Hellenic Ιnstitute of Maritime History (H.Ι.M.Η), member of Greek Federation of Submarine (ΕΛΣΥΒ) and of ‘The Association of Historical Studies’ “KORYVANTES”. She is married to journalist and defense analyst John S. Theodoratos by whom she has a daughter.
